Reporting a "flipped open" junction box on pole.

[link to this post]

Is there an easy way to report a "flipped open" junction box on a pole?

The JB feeds the village hall's phone/ADSL - no problems yet, but it was damp which caused my VDSL problem at home earlier this year.

It is a fairly new pole, cable and box.

I have the DP number and location.

Cheers!

Thanks MHC seems a new system. Asks some questions and then takes you to Chat. He reckoned on 48 hours to fix.

Will see how it goes.

Cheers!

I used it about a year ago, to report the door on our street cabinet hadn't been closed properly. This was 3pm on a Sunday, I was surprised a Live Chat session popped up, (either that or is was a very advanced bit of software !). Anyway, fixed within 24hrs

If only Virgin Media had a similar response posture! It's quite normal to find VM cabinet doors open on the street, sometimes for months on end (or even years) - often the latch or door mechanism seems to be broken, but it seems there's little if any impetus within VM to get them fixed or take proper care of them.

It does make me wonder whether some of the new fibre infrastructure being installed by the altnets might receive similar levels of lack of care in the future. I guess Openreach can insist on any third-party stuff hosted on or in their infratructure (through PIA) gets taken care of.

The Virgin cabinets round here are a disgrace, made out of Bacofoil, and almost all of them have their doors open. The one nearest me (and sited next to the BT FTTC cabinet) has had its door closed by Selotape wrapped around it. I'm sure a local customer did that to try and preserve the integrity of their connection. In comparison the BT cabinets are like brick sh1thouses.

We have one Virgin cabinet in town that has been lying back at about 45 degrees (against a wall) since before Covid struck. I look at it in disbelief every time I go past it.

Virgin cabs round here apparently made from recycled tin cans, only not as strong. I'm not a Virgin customer (never will be) but more than once I have tie-wrapped the door closed as a service to my neighbours. I'll probably get sued for interference with comms equipment ...

It amazes me how VM seem to have got a pass from ofcom to be allowed to do sub standard work, and customer service. They really need a kick up the butt. It'll be good for them too in the long run.

Has anyone on here called the Virgin Media Cabinet hotline to report broken cabs. I have, within around a month I had kelleys ripping out two of those cheap plastic ones and fitting some nice metal ones. The cabs there previously were fit for purpose, they were just "leaking cables" so to speak.

Many Thanks,
