Zen FTTP set up on ASUS RT-AX86U

[link to this post]

Good morning

Zen provide a Fritzbox router for use with the Open Reach FTTP service however it just doesn't seem to have the performance of my original ASUS router which I used previously on FTTC.

I'm struggling to get a connection established to Zen using the static Ip address provided. Does anyone have any other settings that I need to apply to my router to get the connection working please?

Sorry I am confused by this comment, sounds like you need to go back to basics and explain what you have configured on the router for it to connect to Zen.

Ask Zen how the router should be configured? I would expect the static IP address to be assigned by Zen when you make a normal connection rather than being manually entered into the router.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Maybe I didn't explain myself very well.

The Fritzbox 7530 router comes ready configured for Zen including the static IP settings.

I'd like to try my old ASUS RT-AX86U to see if I can better the performance of the Fritzbox but I guess it needs some manual setting by me. The settings I've applied so far don't seem to enable it to connect to Zen.

Zen only support the Fritzbox.

Hi,

Under "WAN" connection select PPPoE.
For WAN/Authentication, you should have option for username/password combination, I use OPNSense firewall so can't say what's available on this router, the manual doesn't go into details.

your zen username: user@zen
your zen password: xyz

The @zen above is part of the username and required, you shouldn't need to specify the static IP manually, it will be assigned by Zen.

Regards.

Note that in this guide

User Name: You should enter the connection username in your Broadband Connection details email – the username will be in the format of zen12345@zen ("zen" followed by numbers and "@zen").
Password: Enter the Password provided in your Broadband Connection details email - the password will be a mixture of letters and numbers, and is case-sensitive, so should be entered exactly as it appears in your Technical Details.
