New FTTP connection lots of spikes on BQM.

[link to this post]

Hi All

Just last friday had an zen/openreach FTTP installed. I`m noticing increasing by the day lots of spikes on my quality monitor.
I`m using an Asus Router into the openreach box , and then from there it goes off to a 3 switches over the house and a couple of Asus zenwifi modules.

Could this be caused by an internal network issue? or is it purely external and router?

Thanks

My Broadband Ping

Have you checked out the 'Slow speed after GEA migration' in the Zen section of this forum

Thanks have had a look a little. But my actual speed is spot on from my asus router test I get 900Mb / 100Mb results. My wired PC via a 10Gbe switch gets around 650Mb / 100Mb,
But i`m getting the odd drop when i have to refresh my browser to view a webpage.
And seeing all those spikes on that broadband monitor made me wonder where the problem could be.

Strange you're getting only 650Mb from a wired connection considering you say its 900Mb at the router.

Edit: Maybe limitations of the PC \ software running on it causing it to be slower.

Not sure, i`m using an 10Gbe internal ethernet port, which i`ve tried going to 2.5Gbe on my Asus router which is saying its connected at that speed.
Tried safe mode aswell but still only seem to get a maximum of 650Mb/sec download. Uploads are fine.

Ah think i`ve found it. Jumbo frame was disabled on my router, when its been enabled on my windows adatpter.
Getting 850Mb/sec now.

Thanks

Unfortunately, not still looks a bit like a romanian flag on its side in places (red yellow and blue)
I had a couple of complete outages for a few minutes today.

Also speedtest has dropped again, its still 900Mb/s on the router down but PC wired into a 10Gbe switch is 500Mb/s to the same server.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

PC's running windows are hogs for speed tests, run a Linux OS for a better test of the connection as with Windows you are only testing the PC. The router seeing 900mbs confirms this.

That sounds like someone is fiddling on the PON or there is a problem somewhere. FTTP ought to be rock solid from the get go and in my experience - if all is well - it most certainly is that.

I would report it to Zen. That earlier BQM looked very, very poor to me.
