Rural FTTP delay between cabled and orderable?

[link to this post]

Hello folks - I would like to ask for opinions on how long it tends to be after a rural Openreach FTTP area is fibred and when it is opened for ordering by the Sales teams?

The situation is that in South Ayrshire we have seen the fibres go up on the existing poles, local duct work is complete to our small housing cluster, disparate segments of fibre off the trunk to our roads are joined and finally a "lighting up" team have concluded their work successfully.

That was two months ago with no further local activity. The Openreach website does not show us as available yet although I am on the "tell me when I can order" mailing list.

Do they tend to complete a wide area before letting everyone in or is it unlocked section by section as it is completed?

Cheers,

Daniel.

There could be fibre links still needed although if you say it is "lit" I think the answer is "how long is a piece of string?"

Once a light test has been done on the CBTs I personally would be chasing 3 weeks after that.

Even for a dispersed rural area with other small clusters within 5 miles?

Re: Rural FTTP delay between cabled and orderable? [SOLVED]

Mystery solved - Openreach have created duplicate entries for every address at my postcode.

Our "old" address comes up as FTTC only, guaranteed 7mbps. As well as this entry, a slightly different address is listed for us which is coming up as FTTP ready to order.

When I go to the BT page and log in, they only see the "old" address but if I visit the website on a different device with no cookies then explicitly pick the "new" address entry, FTTP does come up as available.

Now to go through Customer Services next week (after any strikes of course) and see if I can start the upgrade.
