Contractors missed our close

[link to this post]

Around a month ago contractors working on behalf of BT were working to install fibre into ducts on the main road, while our close of 9 houses set back from road has restricted access via intercom gate. When I was walking out one morning an engineer grabbed me asking about getting access to pull through the fibre cables for us, for which I said buzz the intercom and I'd let them in.... but they never did.

So to cut a long story short, the work seems to have finished on the main road, with new equipment on top of telegraph poles etc. But nothing to our 9 houses set back from the main road.

How can I ensure we're not missed? Happy to provide postcodes/telephone numbers via PM if that helps status check.

Thanks for any help, yours in anticipation for FTTP.

Gated communities usually require wayleaves and permission to dig if needed. Contact the landlord or management team to see if they have been in contact with openreach.

There's another private close 100 yards down the main road where they pulled through to manhole. No digging required that I saw.

Our management company is run by us as residents.

Did you resolve this?
If so, how?
Our street of 7 houses on private land is in the same situation.

Openreach almost always skip MDU's and private roads on the initial rollout.
They will leave sufficient fibre capacity to cover the homes as they pass your street.

Another department should contact the land owner/lease holder and request a wayleave for access. If this is granted they should return later to complete your street.

If a build takes a bit longer and all the ducks line up in a row it will all get done at the same time but this often isn't the norm.

You need to speak to whoever the relevant person for your street is and check if Openreach have been in touch for a wayleave for your street.

Possibly something that looked like junk mail was binned by whoever receives the mail.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.

The best of all possible countries.

Do you know who owns the land?

The Openreach site points at this form which is about apartments but it's linked from their wayleave page so maybe worth completing it anyway with the details so at least the Openreach database has a name against the street

Thanks. My wife is the relevant person! Openreach have not been in touch to request a wayleave for this street. Any idea how we can get in touch with OR to grant them a wayleave? Their website seems light on detail in this area.

Thanks jpm we will try that. The land is jointly owned by all the houseowners through a residents’ management company & mrs_speedyrite is “the person who is authorised to do all the doings”
