Speed seems low for line stats

FTTC Openreach line with the following:
Data rate: 16259 / 52723
Noise margin: 6.0 / 6.0
Line attenuation: 7.1 / 8.7
Signal attenuation: 7.0 / 8.7

I'm sure we had faster speeds with way more attenuation at our old house

You should be getting a better speed, according to my router I am getting more or less the same stats as you and i get 36/9

Do you know if you're on an ECI or a Huawei cabinet? The noise margin should drop to 3dB and give you a bit more on your sync rate over the next few days, assuming this has gone live recently.

I think it's a Huawei cab, I'll check when I can. Went live sometime around Nov/Dec, so not that recent
BT's dsl checker reckons it should be in the region of 72-80 / 19-20 with a handback threshold of 67.. so I thought something might be off, and possibly worth getting the line replaced/renewed.

You should be able to get an engineer out since you're outside the speed range you were sold, I doubt anybody is going to bother replacing a copper line at this point though, the most you might get is released from your contract and the speed estimates downgraded for any future orders.

With 7dB attenuation those line rates are very low which suggests possibly a high level of noise.

What happens if you test at the master with absolutely nothing else connected.

Enoogh evidence for OR involvement but if you are released form contract, whereelse will you go? Any other ISP will use teh same copper.

What product speeds are you paying for 40/2 /10 or 50/20 (plusnet)/ or 80/20 ? my attenuation is 13.1 a pay for 80/20 my line is capable of that & mostly i get that sync rate speed is defined in 2 different ways THROUGHPUT and sync Throughput is the actual speeds that you observe in speed tests and the like the other is the figure your modem negotiates with the DSLAM in the (green or occasionally black street cabinet) that determines what throughput you can send and receive, 2 different layers of the network topology controlled by 2 different entities (if you want to be precise/ technical )

I did not think Huawei cabs existed these days, as Openreach had to take the equipment out. I thought maybe that was why my problem vanished as they changed the equipment in the cabinet. I could be wrong
