YouFibre and 3rd party router

Hi all

I've recently got YouFibre installed and instead of using the Eero router that was given, I'd much prefer to use the AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router as I have it configured to set bandwidth limits to certain devices it's connected to but when I've connected it directly to what I believe the ONT box, I lose the internet connection.


Do I need to enter a PPPoE username and password to connect to YouFibre if I want to use my own modem?

The ONT is the ‘modem’ as such. The router needs to provide the connection details.

As to what these might be, and how to set up your router to supply them, I don’t know.

Set your router to DHCP on the WAN port (I guess YouFibre don't use PPPoE) according to this:

Oh yeah, that might work, I’ve not tried it. 😉

The issue is the router, tried my netgear xr500 and it connected straight away to the ONT modem, didn't have to mess on with any settings.

Now searching for a router that has bandwidth control like the TP-Link AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router

Any router should work, as above you just need the WAN interface set to DHCP and it should pull an IP, no pppoe, all DHCP.

Are you on a static? If so, you might need your lease removed.

just set the wan to DHCP the only additional thing i had to do was with how they assign static ip's as i dont use cg-nat was to clone the mac of the Eero to the port of my router, but if you are on cg-nat just set DHCP

Don't think I'm on a static ip, plus if I was I don't think the Negear XR500 would have connected straight away, I'm going to give the TP-Llink router a factory reset to see if that works

The factory reset didn't work.

It was connecting and was getting an IP address, was given a gateway and DNS servers but wouldn't receive any packets but would send them.

Have connected the TP-Link Archer D2 modem/router and having no issues at all once it was set into Wireless Router Mode
