Zybre Broadband

[link to this post]

I currently have Zybre Broadband as my ISP and using their Zyxel router, which is really not that good. I have bought a TP Link router but can not get it to connect. I have more or less copied the settings for the original router but now wondering if the ISP has locked the connection so you can only use their routers. Has anyone managed to set up the a third party router for use with Zybre?

Is it over Cityfibre ?

If so you may need to set the flan I’d to 911

If the TP LInk supports changing the WAN port MAC address, you could try setting it to match the Zyxel but both the Zybre FAQs and T&Cs say that you are free to use 3rd party routers, so it's unlilely the service is locked to their supplied hardware.

Make sure that you have inadvertently introduced a space at the end of the PPP username and password as this can happen when copying and pasting as this will be passed to their radious server and might prevent successful authentication (first I've heard of this company so if they don't use one, apologies)

Might be best to paste what you've copied into Notepad (or the mac equivalent) first as this will show up

Virgin (ADSL) => Namesco => Newnet => O2 => Plusnet => Zen => Newnet => Zen => Freeola => Vivaciti (using O2 Wholesale DSL) => Xilo (C&W Wholesale) => Xilo (O2 Wholesale) => Xilo (TT Wholesale due to O2 Wholesale closure) => Zen LLU =>> ZeN FTTP (Openreach 300 Mbps down, 47 Mbps up)
Router: Fritzbox 7530

If your connection is via Cityfibre this may help?

https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Broadband-connection...

You say you've 'more or less copied the settings' from the current router - Zybre don't appear to prevent using other hardware so it looks like you need to look further at what you've entered into the TP Link router?

In reply to a post by Drewsmith71:
Still refuses to connect.
Is this a full fibre (FTTP) connection or a partial fibre (FTTC) connecton over an openreach ("BT") telephone point?

It all went quiet, so no idea if you got things working. It seems like any effort may have been for nothing however?

I got things working but now Zybre may be going into liquidation so I now need to find another provider. Thanks for all the help.
