Flurry of activity from MJ Quinn & BT

[link to this post]

Around 12 months ago, we saw some activity from BT erecting new poles, laying some ducts and leaving blue ropes sticking out of these new ducts at the base of the poles.

Then nothing for a year. Last week there have been many MJ Quinn (BT Contractor?) & BT vans around, though no signs of cables being installed on the new poles just yet (though I was just driving through, so could have missed cable installation).

Just wondered if anyone could provide a rough ETA on how long it takes from this stage to being able to order (FTTP), based on the experience from the same events happening in their own area?

Thanks smile

I don't think there's a reliable indicator of timescale as work in your road could be happening before or after the work to connect back to the exchange and equip it is complete.

In my case, there was work done to clear ducts and pull drawstrings a few weeks before I saw cables being pulled and CBTs being installed. FTTP became available to order a couple of days later and, 11 days after cable pull, I was connected up and working.

Take your pick from weeks, months or years, there is no typical time. Every area is different.

Thanks for the info.

I should have added that there are 1-2 streets in my village that are already FTTP enabled, I believe they paid via community fibre. These streets total less than 50 houses, so I'm hoping the rest of the village (in the commercial rollout) will use the same (existing and live) aggregation point.

Hi Dave

Considering you say there have been many MJ Quinn & BT (assume you mean Openreach) vans around your area I do wonder what they have been up to if it isn't pulling in cables and fitting CBT's. Best try not to put a timescale on it as these things are very unpredictable.
