My broadband provider has ordered FTTC to SOGEA conversion for me. How long does Openreach usually take from order date to complete the change?

There is a chance that the conversion will all be done on software. The remote build of the existing allocated port changed to point towards the new provider.

Is anyone confident that once converted the discontinued phone number will be available for 30 days to enable its transfer to a VOIP provider.

If you mean the transition to Voice Over IP, it happens more or a less straightaway.
Having been with TalkTalk from 2020-2022 I was with analogue phone line service +FTTC. I migrated to BT Home Essentials 2 FTTC + Digital Voice and the migration was within 10 days, but my connection was not interrupted during migration phase.
The analogue line was disconnected on the day of switch. I received a handset in addition to the BT SmartHub 2 router and phone number was also ported over.
There will not be any interruption in your internet connection during migration and your phone service should be operating seamlessly.
This is basically the same service. If we were to migrate from FTTC or SOGEA to FTTP then of-course this will be more complex.

Yes, very.
It's part of the OFCOM General Conditions now.

I would hope it wasn't within 10 days.
The rules require a minimum of 10 working days (which is a minimum 14 days) for migrations between providers.

Yep, actually it was my mistake. It was 14 days actually.
Date of email when I ordered was 4 July 2022 at 3:31
Broadband
Home Essential Fibre 2
Your Fibre should start before 23:59 on: 18 Jul 2022
We'll be in touch to confirm this date soon.
I received the router and Digital Voice phone a few days before the migration. I don't remember exactly at what time on the 18th of July my TalkTalk internet service ceased to function. But it was at that point when I connected my new BT router and got connected instantly.
As a test I tried connecting my vintage phone to the telephone port of the master socket and there was no dial tone. I then tested by plugging it to the Smart Hub 2 router and it worked right away. The phone number remained the same.
Few days before the migration TalkTalk sent me a letter by post trying to persuade me to stay by also offering me £20 a month but that was too late. By then I had already received the BT router and phone and there was no reason for me to stick with TalkTalk.
Had TalkTalk not price hiked to £42 a month I probably may have stayed but that of-course is another matter.
The switch was seamless and uninterrupted. In fact the TalkTalk service was under my dad's account. But I switched to BT Home Essentials 2 under my account since I was claiming Universal Credit at that time. I simply entered the existing landline number and the migration happened normally.
There was no internet downtime until the last day of the migration and that's all that matters. Most people looking to switch should be aware that the migration from FTTC to SOGEA is not any different from a normal migration from one FTTC provider to another.

I thought the implementation of the 30-day post-switch number porting window was tied in with the (very delayed) launch of OTS which will now be (allegedly) September this year? Did Ofcom bring the porting requirement forward early because of the continued delays to OTS?
If that's the case then it bodes well for my Zen FTTC -> Aquiss FTTP switch which I'm hoping to get underway this spring to let me dump the copper completely...

Pardon my possible ignorance. If you wish to switch to Aquiss FTTP from Zen FTTC why don't you simply order the FTTP and once it is functioning, commence a port of your geographic telephone number from Zen to your preferred VoIP provider? Won't this cause the FTTC to cease.
This is what we did, although we installed a new Aquiss SoGEA on a disconnected telephone line already in situ because site is unable to receive FTTP at present. Presently in process of porting landline to A&A.

That's exactly inline with what we ourselves will advise pre-sales customers on, in this situation.

The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

yes porting a number to a voip provider will cease your internet connection(adsl/vdsl2)

Yes, I can now confirm from personal experience that this is indeed the case. Today we received two emails; one from the gaining VoIP provider confirming the date future date of the telephone number port in and another email from the losing provider confirming that broadband on that line will be ceasing.
