Power supply and fibre installation query

[link to this post]

Most providers are only offering Fibre BB options now but reading about install it appears a double power socket is required. One for the Hub (as per usual) and one for the ONT box.
I currently run an extension lead from upstairs to my hallway hub point/phone box as there is no powersocket in the area. Would this still be an option I can utilise?

you need one for the ONT, and another for the wifi router. They can be placed in different areas with a cat5e cable.. Also the ont can can come into the property different to how the copper line does now..

So basically have a think as to what you want to do

An extension lead is fine, no engineer is going to refuse to install because you don't have a mains socket in the wall.

Though you can have the fibre come into your house and the ONT can be positioned more or less anywhere you want it, it doesn't have to be sited where your telephone socket is currently so if you would prefer it somewhere else then ask the engineer to put it there.
