Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out my eligibility for FTTP and could use your insights. About a year ago, fibre was installed at Nancledra School, near my home in TR20 8ND, with the overhead fibre cable passing by my property. The BT engineers mentioned I'd be eligible for fibre "soon", but it's been over a year with no update.
The BT pole for my property has a Connectorised Block Terminal on top (photo here: https://imgur.com/a/eqM3aaN). The school's DSL checker shows FTTP available, but my property only shows FTTPoD, not standard FTTP.
Given the presence of the Connectorised Block Terminal, shouldn't I be eligible for FTTP? If so, how can I get OpenReach to update their database so I can order it?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Maybe that CBT isn’t live yet .. ?

Maybe that CBT isn’t live yet .. ?
Ah, interesting -- how long would does that normally take? The school had fibre installed something like 12-18 months ago, and it is live on the school end.
Is there a reason an "intermediate" CBT wouldn't be live, but one further down the line it would be?

How long is a piece of string ?
There could be any number of reasons why that CBT isn’t available for orders .. physically not connected all the way back to the head end., or records mistake, so the powers that be don’t know it is ready to accept orders …
I believe many schools were connected under a separate roll out, so that they having service doesn’t mean other infrastructure nearby is live too.
A clearer picture of the ID on the CBT might mean someone might have more input on what’s going on.

Try contacting OR direct. It's not easy to find, but it is possible and they may come back to you with more information.
https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/when-to-g...
(use the chat thing at the bottom right - Others -> Contact Us -> Enquiry -> Fibre Enquiry)
Make sure you include as much information including the image of the CBT and what other details you know. It's worth noting that they sometimes come back with a generic "database says no" response, so you may have to push a little to get a more sensible answer. Either way, it's worth the effort in the possibility that this CBT is indeed live.

According to the BT wholesale checker none of the premises in TR20 8ND have FTTP available, including the school. The Openreach FTTP checker also says FTTP not yet available at the school. So it looks like the FTTP infrastructure is not ready or activated yet.

Schools are not normally connected with domestic broadband. Their fibre is likely a "leased line" which doesn't use the FTTP infrastructure.

Thanks; I'll try to get a better look of the CBT this week -- need to work out how to get a better view, as there are quite a lot of trees in the way (and obviously it is up high!).

Okay, I've given this a try ... fingers crossed!

You need to check: TOWEDNACK AND NANCLEDRA COMMUN , SCHOOL LANE, NANCLEDRA TR20 8NB CORNWALL COUNCIL on Exchange PENZANCE (note the slightly different postcode!), which definitely _does_ have FTTP.
The fibre the school is connected to is the same fibre that runs past my property, and has the CBT attached to.

Good luck with your efforts but this isn't a "database issue" in the sense that it would be if other properties served off your CBT could get FTTP and you can't - it looks like the school is a few hundred metres from you for a start.

Oh, so could the fibre "line" be live, while the CBT isn't?
To be clear, the fibre that runs past my house is between the exchange and the school not the other way round (e.g., that it gets the the school first, and I'm just on some extension).

Your CBT is not on the same fibre as the school. Might be the same cable but their fibre core is just for them.
Have to wait until Openreach release the area: not done yet else people would be able to order.
Alternatively for a similar service to the one the school has about £300 a month for gigabit and it'll be delivered to you.
