Is it fibre being laid this time?

[link to this post]

Hello,

It's been a few months since my previous post which saw Openreach bringing reels of 'cobra' every other week.

Well today they're doing something different as they have a large wooden reel with a black cable being unloaded.

Picture here:

Is this a good sign that FTTP is finally being deployed? smile

Thanks in advance.

A Cobra is a flexible ‘rod’ on a reel and normally is pushed through a duct section and then a cable or rope tied to it and as the flexible rod is wound back onto the reel , it pulls a cable or rope in behind it .

As stated the cable on the wooden drum that was probably pulled into the duct by the rope that was installed using the Cobra could be fibre or could be copper

Possibly. Around here they have been doing the same thing. I had a good look at the Cobra when they did my line and I remember the Engineer had to remove the end as it was too thick for the ducting running under the patio. They pulled blue rope back with it and tied it up It was a much smaller metal reel and it was all yellow.

It nearly got to you from the network then last few metres they had to stop and change it all? How annoying.
