Pole question.

[link to this post]

Are OR allowed to use poles that were constructed purely for a leased line, for FTTP rollout?

The one for the Medical equipment had a pole installed so they could get it across the road before it went underground. But now I notice there are 3 lines on it and they are now all mixed in - is this going to give me problems?

That top line is my leased line.

If it’s an Openreach pole they’re entitled to put whatever service they want on it (or that matter lease it to any PIA licensees - other communications companies that pay to use their pole and duct infra to run their own cables).

Why would or should it bother you?

And further to the other correct answers, nope, that won’t cause you an issue.

If it's on your ground they might be liable to pay rent, other than that can't see a problem.

okay thanks for all your replies. I was only bothered because I thought if one of those lines gets damaged then my line could also. It also says in my contract it's a dedicated pole to provide service, so I was not sure.

I paid for it after all in the ECC's - It was in the breakdown and I would have to dig that e-mail out. But if there won't be any problems then I guess I don't need to care. Until there is of course.

That is true of every single line. Even when ‘your’ line had the pole to itself, it was still just as venerable.

Yes but there was less chance of stuff happening to the line, but now it's got 2 others to rub against. It's behind a wall so it's got fairly good protection from a car.

Okay stop taking the [censored]. i wish I never asked now.
