Ordered FTTP 900

Ordered FTTH Yesterday received a automated txt from Bt openreach confirming the order had been placed by ISP, Does the ACCESS Reply cover how you would like the fibre routed,

As the current copper ,Is located at the very end of the wall next to the street, the Entry is shared access,]

My home is located at the rear of the property with a shop at the front, there is no ducting from the footway box to the property,So will involve a 2 stage install, Do these Openreach surveyors Let you know when they are calling ?
or would i need to use the ACCESS reply option on the SMS?

As i would like the fibre ducted to my doorway, then the CSP box outside the entry point into my home, not 30mts away Where the current copper Gray box is that the individual pairs for each line are terminated

I wouldn't be relying a text message for explicit instructions on cable routing. That's best discussed and agreed in person with both the surveyor and the installation engineer before a single cable gets pulled anywhere.

Ask for an appointment booking time on the text message.

Be mindful that for a Standard install Openreach will include 10 metres of internal/inside building cabling (from the entry point / CSP location) and for a Premium install they allow up to 30 metres of internal cabling.

Openreach typically allow up to 15 metres of external cabling fixed around the outside of the building. However given your installation is not a typical residence I wouldn't have thought these limits will be strict. Keep an open mind and see what the surveyor suggests.

Do surveyors Let you know when they will be calling & knock on your door,
Or will they just rock up and make assumptions ?

This is why i was thinking of using the access reply, to try and make sure they do knock or give a date as to when they will come to do the survey, so i can show them where my place is and where about i want the ONT

what the situation is regarding bends in the routing of the fibre, ?

i think i read something about there being limitations on what sort of angle's are ok

By the sounds of it they will need you there, as they won't be able to access any part of you property (will they?) without you there.

So in your position I would message them back to explain this and request an appointment time.

not inside , no, but the driveway is shared access, and has no gates, So they can see that part, but unless the knock on they won't know for sure where the ONT will need to be, i Shall message them back to be safe, i thought that would be best but wasn't sure as to their usual routine

Just done the sms reply Access, option and got some scripted response about engineer maybe allocated to the job already, but if not they will try and carry out everything external on the day, no options to request appointments ect So I'm guessing they will give me an appointment date next?

Follow up during business hours with them. They will need you (or a delegated adult) to be there. Presumably there’s no wayleave concerns or anything with cables etc on private property which is not your own.

As it will more than likley be routed much the same way as the existing copper pair, i can't see any issues, And in the future For the other flat and shop to be connected, much the same process will be needed, So long as and trenches are resurfaced with fresh tarmac ( drive is tarmac) in poor condition as is very old

The existing copper cable is pinned to the external wall from the grey BT box approx 10ft from the floor it then crosses a porch lean to and in to the flat via a hole between the D glazed window and wall,

but there are many tight bends from that point onwards to wee i want the Ont locating, (near to where theNTE5 is located So ideally A new hole through the wall and a straight run with only 1 bend to the ont inside is my thinking

The Fibre is Right out side the front of the building in the Footway box, but no existing ducting to any properties served by that DP only the main ducting connecting to other footway boxes,

So at a minimum they would need to lay ducting from footway box to near where the copper comes out of the ground and is secured to the wall, to grey BT66B Junction Box at the top of it

But this isn't an ideal location due to the width of the drive narrows as it ends before the footway
it's barley wide enough for a 3.5t van, and the cable guard has been struck a few times,

Back in the day there would have been a gate on it, when GPO installed the copper

There are no overhead cables or any others apart from the incoming mains, water and sewer pipes buries under the driveway, i know where the electric runs ,(which feeds just my flat) water main is probably more central and is shared , Same for the Gas ,and waste pipe all buried ,

When you say i should liaise with OR during office hours, do you have a contact number for them, the number that sends the auto sms, is a mobile number and i doubt they will answer that?

Just to add Way-leave, Unless the landlord needs to sign anything there won't be any issues with that I did mention it to him sometime ago
