Speed restriction warning...

Hi

I have an email from bt (one of the noreply ones...so I cant contact them about it)

It shown I have downloaded 240GB in March so far and that if I go over 300GB then they will restrict my speed.

1) My router shows uptime of 25 days (since fibre install) Transmitted/Received shows 3.5/2.7. so where they get the 240GB from I am not sure.

2) What speed would they restrict the connection to? My connection runs at around 32Mps according to the BT website.

On principle I am NOT willing to contact BT broadband due to experience in the past of waiting for ages to get through and then being asked lots of stupid questions, when I have a perfectly functioning line already. I have a screen print of my router settings/results but try as I might I cannot find any email to ask a question ....just their FAQ which brings me back in circles to where I started from.

Any comments?

2Mbps in peak periods for 30 days.

But the 300GB FUP is supposed to be being removed during April.

There's been no official start date in April for the removal of the FUP Orly. Others on the BTCC forums have been advised about their useage also.

Agreed.

In fact as I remember the original announcement(s), it will be removed in stages "over a period". I haven't seen any explanation of what that means.

Neither have I seen anything saying that users under restriction at the time the FUP is removed will have their restriction removed early, or whether it will have to run its course. Maybe that's the "over a period" bit?

Bear one thing in mind- if you exceed the 300GB limit in March it will have been done with the FUP still in force, and it's not clear from that announcement whether or not the speed restriction will still be applied for the month following.

My suggestion is that you be careful for a few more days

I was!... but other family members werent...my son tried 4 times with a 10GB game until he got an error free copy...that put us over the limit.

Speed restriction started 3 days ago and still applies even April. Still outside peak hours there is no restriction so we will use a download manager and download overnight.
