Hi, I saw that you had posted a reply on the thread about the postcode mapping for the whole of the UK. Doing a quick look through the list i found that my postcode is listed and has FTTC listed beside it. Hopefully that means that they plan to cover my address when they do the update

Thank you for that, i initially didnt see that reply. I also found another document that was available on a bt website. It is an updated version of when the works are due to start and was last updated 20/05/2011 and still states June 2011 so that is good news. Also, as said earlier the roadworks website shows that the works are due 20-22 June. Hopefully it wont be much longer. Now the joys of trying to leave sky...

They still need to fit the cabinet and connect the tie ins for power and to the original box, that could take a few weeks but hopefully be good to go for end of june or july sometime. When they say June 2011, that can mean the date when they get at least 10 fibre cabinets activated in an exchange area so some could be after that date.

Just checked my line again on bt wholesale checker, now says my line to have fttc by 30th june. No sign of a cabinet yet so they have 3 weeks to get it done. Not counting my chickens yet!

I see they have been working on the cabinet opposite the bell tree, maybe the 30th September date is obtainable now.

I live over in balmossie and have kept a close eye on this. Out of curiosity, what speed does it estimate for you guys down near lawers drive?

27.5 down and 5.8 up for me... Get about 3 now with Sky. Can't wait for upgrade....

I believe the cabinet is now installed and all of the cables have been connected. September 30th looks promising now.

I live on Lawers drive and my speed estimates are 28Mbps down and 5.9Mbps up.

The results for Vorlich Avenue about 100 metres away are as follows; 29 to 38.1 Mbps and upstream line speed between 6.2 to 9.8 Mbps.
That is a considerable difference for 100 metres.

Also currently with sky and receiving 3.8Mbps, after a long call with services to get it from 1.2Mbps that is.

Hopefully BT's estimates are below actual throughput and see nearer 30-32Mbps

Good news! Cabinet now live. So anyone in Panmurefield village, balmossie areas can now order. I have got installation booked for friday 19th.

Ahead of the September 30th expected date, not bad BT.

I'm still tied into sky but found the contract finishes 23rd September so will hopefully switch asap.

Please revisit this page to let me know if the installation went smoothly and the throughput speeds you are receiving

I would just ask them for MAC anyway, you will have to pay them for rest of contract but thats only 1 month. BT are doing 3 months free. Maybe for limited time.

I will report back speeds etc once connected but I am out of country for few more weeks, wife will be at home for install.
