Yes definately BT but is it definately serving you?.

It's the right shell for upgrading but there's all sorts of other civil and planning considerations to be taken into account, the cab type being one of the least important.

Just found out now from the NGBNI site that the cabinet is due to be upgraded at the end of Setember:

Website: http://www.nibroadband.com/availability.html

I can't be sure if it's the cabinet I connect to or not. I suspect it is as it's in the direction of the exchange and is the nearest to me, the next closest to me is about 1.5km away.

See what this checker says about your phone number.

"Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 8Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 7Mbps and 8Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 8Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 5.5Mbps and 12.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1Mbps and downstream line speed of 5Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 4Mbps and 6Mbps.

The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.

Thank you for your interest.

Please note that postcode and address check results are indicative only. Most accurate results can be obtained from a telephone number check.

Note: If you already have a Broadband service enabled on this line and you want to switch service providers, you will need to contact both your current provider and your new provider to get your service changed over new and existing service provider to have this service transferred."

That's not good, as I would expect a September fibre enablement to be giving you an estimated speed there frown.

Does that mean I'm not connected to that cabinet then, am I to far away from it or is the site I used unreliable?

Looks as if your checker is better for NI, though the data is February.

There is an Openreach spreadsheet (csv) file that a few people have that could help as well. That works by postcode and I think includes NI. Dated April. It gives the "Phase" for each cabinet.

You'll need to PM someone with your post code. You can try me, but disappearing soon for a couple of weeks.

The best way to figure out if you're on that particular cabinet or not is to email the enquiries address on NGBNI. I had to email them to find out that I was on an enabled cabinet, but too far away to receive service from it. Unfortunately, you may be in the same situation.

However, I found in this area (I'm on the same exchange), the estimates are extremely conservative, and found one amusing instance where the ADSL2+ speed estimate was higher than the FTTC estimate. So this may be playing into it also. However, if you're on a cabinet that isn't enabled, it might update to something a bit more accurate once it's enabled.
