Re: FTTC 250m from Cabinet

ah, cool - so it's pretty normal for work to start while the checkers still show no plans?

I asked in another forum thread and it seems to be between 1 and 3 months for the cabinet work...

Thanks,

Ian

Not sure if its already been covered in other forum posts, but someone may know timescales for when FTTC cabinet installs start for an exchange to the checker starting to show estimated FTTC results???

The checker has been showing my estimated results for two/three months and there are no new cabinets or ground works for them.

Mine was the same, however when the FTTC cab was fitted to it going live was just over 11 weeks. Some people have had shorter waits and others have had to wait months.

As for your line distance id be very cautious.

My cab is 200m down a main road, stick my head out the window and its easy to see.

BTO came Tuesday to install my FTTC, It only connected at 31mb so he opened his lappy
and pulled up the map for this area.

My line goes round half the estate, and down the other end of the road outside my house to the cab.

Even if you can spit at it from your house, I wouldn't expect anything.

Numbers won't appear on the checkers until a while after all work has seemingly been completed.

Also don't assume that the cable takes the shortest route. Similarly, don't assume you're connected to the cabinet closest to you either. I'm not...mines 3x further away from me than the closest one.

New build = nice 0.5 copper, did a punter this week who'd had to order the sub 15 product, the cable length was 1.1K, 37meg sync, no worries. Mine is 566m, and I get full 40/10.

Rubbish; my number's been on the checker for at least 6 months and the cabinet only went it at the weekend.
Our exchange is due in September.
