How would we tell if they are LLU'd please?
My next door neighbour and 3 down say the same as mine when searching their phone nos...

Thanks smile
Sorry for my delay in replying to your query -- somehow I originally missed you posting.

The way I would test to see if a line was fully LLU'd would be to attempt to use the BT Line Test Faciilities.

Just call 17070 (not chargable) and if you hear an announcement "This circuit is defined as . . ." repeated, ad infinitum, the line is fully LLU'd. If you hear the announcement just once and then that is followed by the menu options, the line is not fully LLU'd. That would the the telephone number to put into the BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker.

Thanks,
I actually ended up emailing the exec ref the situation just to try and get a "proper" answer.
It started off well with 2 emails and 2 phone calls weekend before last, all very apologetic. Last Monday (4th) a lady phoned to say she'd ring me on Thurs of last week to provide an update or an answer. I've not had that call and no further emails have been received so I've just emailed them again.

I'm surprised at this as many others have commented on how quickly and well their inquiries were resolved by following this course. frown

Thanks, there's only 6 houses on our postcode and of the people I know, nobody is with BT (all with Sky, Orange etc). frown

Have had another afternoon of pestering BT and everyone just says "check the website". One chap gave me the no for Openreach but when I phoned them they denied having anything to do with Infinity, and denied they upgrade the cabinets, lines etc!

Seems like I'm not going to get anywhere with this... frown
Just a couple of points, that might help you when phoning people.

If you talk to people about things that are nothing to do with them they easily get confused. If they know what you are talking about they may help. If they don't know what you are talking about goodness knows what they may think is relevant.

An Openreach engineer doing FTTC installations will probably know what "Infinity" is, but there is no guarantee. An Openreach person on the end of whatever unpublished(?) number you obtained, in a department you don't tell us, could easily not have a clue what you are talking about.

Infinity is a BT Retail broadband product. The Openreach product, sold to ISPs, is Generic Ethernet Access (GEA) to their FTTC network.

So the Openreach person you spoke to on the phone could quite reasonably say they don't install Infinity cabinets - there is no such thing but they wouldn't necessarily know that.

LOL smile.

What I'm getting at is support at an ISP tend to be script-monkeys, and Openreach staff, who probably aren't even support and are almost certainly not script monkeys, apart from the engineers could quite possibly not know what Infinity is.

So if you ask them when the Infinity cabinet is going in, the answer is "Wot? Eeh - we don't do them sorr".

That is certainly what I've discovered!
I did get a call late Thursday from the Exec Office saying the Exeter exchange is live but NO cabinets will be live until at least September now.
