Why drill holes, BT/OR do it as part of the installation.
It was certainly not offered to me, not even mentioned, nor was the possibility of wall-mounting it (which I have done).

So now I can drill a couple of holes now I have the dimensions so I can position it where I want and save the BT engineer a couple of minutes as I'm going to ask them to move the master socket from behind the front door to upstairs.
?
Don't you need to know the position of the mounting points on the back?

The only option given to me was wall mounting. The modem comes with a template for wall mounting! We discussed the best place for it and that's where it went - a perfect job. I wouldn't be drilling holes yet - have a chat with the engineer when he arrives.

The engineer never mentioned wall mounting mine, he left it sitting flat, he did mention the issue of older ones overheating. I think cause i got a version 2 wall mounting is as necessary

The difference in approach is odd isn't it? I have the latest version which I don't believe overheats, but he didn't even consider anything other than wall mounting.......

Ah well - perhaps it's more down to the individual engineer - but the fact that there is a wall mounting template in the modem pack should give them a clue!!"

I wall mounted it myself after reading all the horror stories on here, even after a few hours constant downloading at 4.6MB/sec it remains cool to touch

err... yes they do, unless the punter specifically requests that they don't.

I have been at 4-5 FTTC installs over the last 8 weeks and none of the engineers offered to wall mount.
