That fits in with the way those extracts read. The interleaving will be a related issue due to the fault, but a capped profile is a PITA. frown

It's a real PITA, I asked repeatedly why an engineer was required to reset the line as at the end of the day all they did was use their mobile to call into BTOR and ask for a profile reset. Not sure why the ISPs can't request this TBH or have an automated system, it must have cost BTOR a fair amount to send the engineers out repeatedly.

My recent experience proves that an engineer visit to uncap the sync rate isn't required, however all the cases I've seen (apart from mine) of people getting it reset have done so via an engineer visit.

You can read through my thread here if you like to see how it happened.

In my case it's clear the sync rate can be raised without an engineer visit, I can't say for sure whether OR intervened or the DLM removed the cap. But the events leading up to the cap being removed would strongly suggest the former.

AIUI, they are salaried and so the marginal cost of the visit would be zero. You cannot even factor the cost of fuel as if they had not gone to you, they would have gone to another job.

A post by Plusnet Support in the Community forum here contains three interesting points:

1. There is no guarantee that a visiting engineer will request a line reset to remove the cap.

2. A line reset request may not be accepted by the BT engineers helpdesk.

3. Consequently Plusnet recommend holding an uninterrupted 10 to 15 day connection with the cabinet to allow the DLM to adjust the line automatically and then rebooting the Openreach modem.

Does anyone have experience of the above?
