The shareholding does not matter - it is the name.

Branson gets a disproportionate amount of shares for funds invested and then a licence fee for using the Virgin brand ... he needs to protect his brand name and image.

Well, he may care, but he's unlikely to do anything. Virgin Media is really just NTL still.

Has the new modem only mode for the superhub now come out of beta?

Also on wireless, adding a specced to the users requirements wireless access point (i.e. not a router, but just Ethernet to wireless device) would probably resolve wireless issues.
