given you have issues with your FTTC and as you pointed out BT have a poor track record of fixing faults then it looks like the VM is the better choice.

The only faults VM have a poor record of fixing is utilisation faults, if you have things like SNR issues they will send someone round without a silly threat of you paying large sums of money and it should be fixed very quickly.

I just spoke to the engineers to find out about utilisation at my local UBR and they told me during peak periods for downstream the maximum was 55%-60% and upstream around 20%-30% so that is not too bad at all.
