OR POS

Hi guys.

Line hasn't been able to hold a connection all day long. Drops, turn the modem off/on again and it holds for a few minutes before dropping again. Doesn't feel very hot and was installed horizontally in May. The DSL light seems to flash a lot then go out.

Sound like I need a new modem?

Sounds like it yeah - do you have a desk fan or something you can blow cool air against it?

Sounds wacky, but with this method I was able to keep my connection alive until BT replaced my faulty unit.

Thanks. I might try that later. Perhaps standing it on end may help a bit more?

Open the cover ... and force cool it ...

I found that wasn't enough for mine,so I used the ethernet cable to dangle the modem over the fan cage, directly in front of the airflow. It worked a treat

What? You mean flush it down the toilet?

It couldn't make it anymore useless to be honest. It wouldn't be so bad if we had the choice to use our own.

I was under the impression OR wouldn't take responsibility for faults if you weren't using their modem? Or has something changed?

Usual way round that is to plug theirs back in before reporting a problem.
