Usual way round that is to plug theirs back in before reporting a problem.

The simple answer would have been "no".

That seems a very churlish reply to someone who made a perfectly sensible suggestion, considering this is the solution that has been adopted by a fair number of posters here..

It makes a lot more sense than this post.

Get BT / OR to change the Modem (it will be free). My first Modem died a bit like yours, with the DSL light constantly flashing regularly (not every now and again, like normal). Light finally went out completely and Broadband access died.

The Modem is best mounted vertically on a wall to 'improve' the air-flow.

Later Modems (from a few months ago) apparently run much cooler and last longer- mine is hardly warm.

Thanks. I'm in the process of that at the minute. The guys at Aquiss booked an A.M. appointment today, but they didn't show.

BT apparently cancelled it without letting anybody know. I'm not surprised to be honest. I remember reading about it happening before on the forums.

The opening post was mine, tongue in cheek and pinched from somebody else's post calling it a POS (rather aptly if you ask me).

If you re-read it RobertoS, you might notice a couple of other churlish responses from the champion one liner of the forums. I did actually try to humour him a bit. I asked what the official position was, not how to circumvent it.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember you promoting the same official standpoint many months ago? That's why I asked what the position is now.

Thanks for that.

It seems to be working upside down at the moment without too many slow downs, but the moment you right it again, it disconnects.

As you rightly say disconnecting the power for 10 mins brings it back too life. Hopefully it won't die completely before an engineer arrives.

They don't all get missed, I swapped one out today. tongue

Make sure the replacement is a 2B or 3B (look on the back of the modem) and make sure the engineer wall mounts it for you.

Will I be able to refuse anything other than a 2B or 3B? And on what grounds, that the others have known issues?

Thanks.

To be fair, they shouldn't try and fit anything else, if they do (they are remotely checked) the engineer will get a 10 point audit failure (internal bollocking).
