On our latest weekly update from Openreach we can see the below FTTC cabinets are now live and RFS on the Basingstoke exchange:

6, 18, 24, 63, 65, 67, 78, 82, 106, 123, 168, 199 and 204

Yes, me too. Everything went ahead OK and the engineer actually turned up on the Monday 24/10/11.

I was 0.6Mb down and 0.4Mb up. I am now 35Mb down and 1.7Mb up with Plusnet, quite some difference.
Odd how the speeds are all over the place, I used to have an up almost the same as my down, now there is a large difference.

Chainsaw i would expect an up of aound 8 - 9 with that download - def not 1.7

The BT engineer said the line tested at 40 and 2, which I took to mean a sync speed of 40Mb down and 2Mb up. I always knew there was something wrong with my line, my neighbours could achieve 1Mb down. The difference between 0.6Mb and 1Mb used to be so important to me....... But not now

I am not complaining as its been such a long long wait to get a decent connection.
That may change in a few weeks when I become accustomed to it.

Do you get to see any forward planned availability? PCP 66 had its DSLAM installed over three months ago but is still not live

66 had some digging alongside it lately which I thought might be for sorting out the power to the cab, but Elgin said it was for gas works rather than electricity.

so is the 15 mb minimum and then 5mb minimum imposed by bt wholesale or bt openreach? can providers take gea customers at whatever speed they like?

Infinity cannot be ordered unles its 15m (this is aroun the service offered) other CPs will packange their products according to their criteria

There is a by product of a line not being on 15 meg line offered by BT with is badged as Faster Tottal Broadband (used FTTC technollogy but without Infinity sorroud)

Faster total broadband only operates where a cab in already enabled for FTC

you wuld need to contact your cp to understand what is available to you depending on your line speed
