FFTC Forecast

My telephone exchange is scheduled to upgrade to FFTC in 2012.
Will this give me AN AUTOMATIC uncrease in speed or will it require my ISP to get involved before I receive the benefit of FFTC.
As an aside my neighbour in the flat below has installed (yesterday)Tesco broadband and his speed is 11400kbps. I am with IDNET and on average my speed is 5300kbps (highest ever was 6200Kbps a couple of years ago).
With the same telephone pole and wiring my line seems capable of more speed.
I presume Tesco is a reseller but unable to find out with whom.
Also cannot find any user reports of Tesco Broadband to see if users are satisified.
I know Tesco is an 18th month contract and would include the telephone line.
That would not be a problem.
Any information appreciated.

Once the equipment is in place at the exchange and the PCP through which your line is connected has been given its FTTC twin, then you will have to contact your ISP to subscribe to a FTTC based service.

So, in short, the answers to your two part question are: No and yes.

Please can you post the link to what samknows says about your exchange.

My guess at the moment is that it is not WBC-enabled by BT Wholesale, but C & W LLU is there. (Edit - Tesco uses C & W. There are several C & W resellers).

Your line stats from your router would be useful info. See here for help.

Not completely! OP's current ISP may not do FTTC and so would not even consider switching him to it.

I assumed you saw right through it to what was inside .

They get rather heavy towards the end of the night; the night-vision model is even heavier

Still have not been able to find reports from users of Tesco,would like to have this feedback before considering 'jumping ship' in view of the terrible tales of woe as seen on Thinkbroadband about other ISPs.
