yep the speed is really random at the moment.

I'm about 20-30m from the Cab, can literally walk to it in less than 10 seconds.

i'd try a speedtest/newsgroup download and i'd be getting 37, leave it downloading and come back 3 mins later and it'll be around 20, few mins latter and it'll be around 8, then 17 etc.

For example, tried a number of speed test 10 mins ago and struggled to get 20. Tried now and get 38 consistently over several test I come back in a few mins and try again it'll be alot different.

I take it you guys when you download from say a decent source its 37 ish consistently ? no dips for a few seconds etc

Please post how you get on, will be interesting to see what effect it has. (not sure if you can get your line stats - as it would be worth seeing the attainable rate for the line just before the changeover, in case the modem has been hanging onto a low sync, or maintaining a higher one despite worsening line conditions).

This could go down in history as the latest reply ever but the HH5 has made it much easier to see the results of the faceplate swap.

I put the BT plate back on took the readings and put the ADSLNation one back on and the results were max attainable downstream is 3Mbit higher at 110Mbit and my max upstream went up by 1.5Mbit to nearly 32Mbit using the ADSLNation plate.

Not much use to me i guess but to someone with a sync under 40Mbit it might just squeeze a bit more out of the line for them.

That's interesting, I'm tempted to try my ADSLNation faceplate some time, which I kept (somewhere safe!) when my FTTC was installed.

When I had my FTTC installed a couple of years ago, they left my ADSLNation plate on, didn't bother with an iPlate, all he did was check that the wiring was correct.

You don't mean an iPlate.

Blame BT Group for the original inappropriate naming of the interstitial ring wire filter plate.

Because of the use the word gets put in modern day vernacular? Oh, and is it in the Bible? I agree it is in English translations but the Bible was not written in English and therefore the translations may not be entirely accurate - and the meaning of words changes over time and context.

Why do you need to use it at all? I agree it is very mild but even then you probably don't need to use it.

Perhaps he needs to clean the blood off of them. How did the blood get on them in the first place?
