Got converted to 17a last night. I'm a bit disappointed with the possible speed, I hoped I'd reach 40Mb/s + 100Mb/s smile

Hi BusError,

Along with your US/DS rates, I see your SNR & Pwr levels have changed quite a bit.

I don't suppose you could post your before & after pbParams data could you - just to see what effect (if any) there has been on your attenuation levels, & also to see which band plans are in use?

These are mine:-

Hi sparky76,

In reply to a post by sparky76:
Managed to get into mine this morning after having it installed Thursday..

Not bad considering the checker estimated at 17.8Mbps..

Asked engineer for line legth to cabinet but didnt have his tester?? Going by road, length is at least 650m, he reckoned about 850m off the top of his head after doing two others in my street...

# xdslcmd info --show
xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Retrain Reason: 0
Max: Upstream rate = 7488 Kbps, Downstream rate = 41120 Kbps
Path: 0, Upstream rate = 7480 Kbps, Downstream rate = 39999 Kbps

Trellis: U:ON /D:ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime
Down Up
SNR (dB): 6.6 6.0
Attn(dB): 0.0 0.0
Pwr(dBm): 12.1 4.3

I am supposedly a similar distance from the cabinet as you, but my Downstream Rate is way below yours.

When I first had FTTC installed, my estimated speed was only 14.6 Mb, but I achieved actual downloads over 30 Mb for a month.

Now my estimated speed is 24 Mb (since the switch from the 8c profile to the 17a profile), with downloads being achieved at 26 Mb.

I suspect an ongoing high resistance issue is causing very high attenuation levels on my connection, & thus much lower download speeds than I achieved at first.

If our attenuation levels are actually similar, it could suggest that "something" has place a speed cap on my connection.

As a comparison, & some "evidence" that I possibly could present to my ISP, would you be able to post your xdslcmd info --pbParams details for me to have a look at?

There are mine :-

Paul,

I can only access OR using a 'telnet' session in PuTTY.

If I try a 'ssh' connection and 'Open' the PuTTY screen opens but hangs with a green rectangular block (cursor size) in the top left hand corner of the console screen. Any ideas of a solution. Your batch files will require a 'ssh' session wont they?

Hi Barry,

PuTTy doesn't work for automated login.
However Plink does - download available from:-
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/do...

Plink is the command line version & one my batch files uses it in telnet mode.
e.g "Plink -telnet -P 23 192.168.1.1"

The batch file that uses Plink obtains the stats & generates these graphs:-

example graphs

If you wanted to send me a PM with your email address, I could forward the beta version along with some setting up instructions to try out & provide feedback for me (at your own risk).

Which version of Windows are you using?
Different versions appear to use different basic fonts.
e.g. I am using Windows 7, & had to adjust the font size in the batch file for it to display all the text properly in Vista.

EDIT:
I haven't tested this out with XP yet, but i think it should still work (possibly with some minor tweaking)

The other batch files that generate these graphs don't need Plink anyway:-

Example SNRM etc. graphs

The batch files do use native Windows versions of some popular Unix/Linux utilities & need a couple of other downloads for the graphing itself.
All is explained (hopefully clearly) in the setting up instructions.

Paul.

I believe that invoking the ssh connection as follows should do the trick --

ssh -T 192.168.1.1
