If I was in the know, I may suggest the posters are being put up in areas where take up is not great.

But I'm not, so I won't.

In reply to a post by Zarjaz:
These posters are put up in some areas to stir up interest in the FTTC product. Posters on these boards often forget that they are a little more 'clued up' about such things.

Openreach is just trying get the average Joe keen to ask their ISP if they can have an FTTC based service, therefore helping the long process of recouping some of it's investment.

Why some areas get these posters, and others don't I have no idea. Last time I saw them was back in March in Berkhamstead.

But these are on the actual FTTC cabs - and only some of them.

That's to prove they can't afford to put them on all cabinets so need more subsidy.

Think you will find they need council approval to put advertising on, so only some areas will get these as some councils don't want "Fly posting" on streen furniture encouraged.

I would be interested in knowing whether it has any effect on take-up rates, but it has obviously been noticed by posters so has had some effect short term.

Always surprises me that some people complain (whinge) about slow speeds yet have FTTC available and haven't taken it up. Maybe this will help bring the availability to their notice.

Yes, it is OK to attach one's posters to one's own street furniture.

I believe the posters were given to staff to put up as and when....

If it's really bothering you guys so much, I could ask my old level 1 manager who was the lead on the initial roll out of this scheme.

It's this kind of public feud and subjective modding that typifies the change in atmosphere here that began some time ago. That led me to stop posting and helping others after years of doing so.

I came to check the Fibre info as my area will be FTTC in 2012, sad to see the forum still going rapidly downhill.

Happy Christmas one and all!

X-poster.

Two full days after RJ's initial post

Two full days is five days less than my posting rights were suspended for so I apologise for not being able to address your concerns.

Questions asked that are totally on topic are obviously not allowed when they pertain to some providers.

Although, curiously wholly inaccurate posts that suggest Openreach are working referrals, which are totally illegal are. crazy

Well, you're here now RJ, and I'm sure Bob would agree that those links he requested would be better provided late than never...

I agree, there seems to be a little click where you can be as onboxious and as rude as you like and nothing will happen which is putting off people posting, myself included.

these displays on cabs ar not driven by ISP they are driven directly by Openreach in conjunction with local authorites advising that superfast is available and who it is avaialbe from
