"is".
Just a hiatus in the system at the moment.

The point I was actually making to that poster was that the blah about "customers have received" is garbage, and the "line supports" doesn't mean it is available.

I am hearing from some people here and elsewhere that the checker says march 2012. It still has not updated for me.

I took a walk up to my cabinet last night, about 10 metres away from it (in the direction to the exchange), the pavement had 'BT' sprayed and a squiggle next to it. This is definitely new - is this likely a blocked duct? i hope so!

anyway sorry for derailing the thread a little - i just need to know if there is progress!

Don't take things too literally. Andrue's post was an owl. (If you weren't a Twin Peaks addict you will need that explaining).

As for my reply, have you never heard of what two bricks can be used for?

Interesting that the upstream speeds changed to match the 17a profile upgrade, the downstream speeds didn't.

My pre-installation estimate was for 30.1 down and 6.1 up - when I actually got 36 down and 10 up.

Since the 17a rollout, the estimate stays at 30.1 down and 11.3 up. My actual is limited to 40/10 based on the current package, but the maximum attainable (according to the modem) is 61 down and 16 up.

Last time I searched back to check, my downstream hadn't changed either. Presumably it's a bit like ADSL2+ v ADSL, at certain distances the different frequencies are attenuated out of usefulness.

I'm about 600m from the cabinet.

guys its updated!

says i can get infinity, but my cab has not been upgraded?!

this is on the bt infinity website, it says 'order now'

the adsl checker says:

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 31Mbps and upstream line speed of 11.9Mbps.

Is this a joke? i sure hope its not, but there is definitely no fibre cabinet near mine. There is one 100m up the road next to another PCP. Could it be connected up to it?

No, it's because the upstream figure is for 8c on a 40/15 product, it's also why no-one has an estimate above 40Mb down and 15Mb up even if they live next door to the PCP.

Mine has just been updated.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 37Mbps and upstream line speed of 13.3Mbps.

I'm less than 50m from the PCP, the fibre cabinet is going about 5m further away.
