Re: BT business Infinity installed - printers not working

[re: MHC] [link to this post]

I've installed the drivers etc and have set up one of the wireless printers (hp p1102w) to my laptop. I am glad to report this is now printing successfully. I then set up wirless for the hp printer on my desktop. I didn't download any new drivers etc as it found the printer on my network (guessing thats because I already set it up on my laptop).

Now here's the problem. Desktop is printing wireless but it prints the same page over and over again and won't stop unless I cancel the print. The document just seems to stay in the printing queue. This is not happening with the laptop so does anyone know what I can do to rectify this?

I've checked the printers preferences and this is set to print "1 copy"

This is something for you to check on the manufacturers support forums rather than here... only hope is if someone has the same spec printer and has had the same problem.

I would update the drivers on the desktop machine, just in case. Don't forget you are dealing with a print server in the hub, and maybe there is some incompatability with the existing drivers.

As the old drivers were already on the laptop and it didn't work, that suggests this could be the case.

thanks for the info. I'm now downloading the new drivers. Once this has finished will I need to delete the printer from my list or printers and go through the set up again? Or can or will the new updated drivers automatically be applied to my current setup?

I assume you will be updating the drivers for the installed printer, and would expect/hope that works. If it doesn't, then yes, delete the printer on the desktop machine, re-install, and when it asks about drivers choose choose the option Have disk or similar, rather than letting Windows install its own. Then browse to the ones you have downloaded.

thanks everybody - I had the same problem the printer was connected to the hub by a cable but my macbook which connects wirelessly kept showing the message 'Network host '192.168.1.67' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds... '
- so I deleted the printer and re-selected it - sorted!
