Thanks for the info ! Guess Im not connected to the green box 100m from my house then !

Will probably go for it anyway as Im not moving anytime soon and its free so a new 12 month contract makes no odds.

Thanks again for the help

That's pretty much what I figured but it's only because I've used an "unlocked" firmware that I'm even able to see the maximum achievable speed on the router.

I assume you mean the Openreach modem then, not your router.

Yes, it is the Openreach modem. There still don't appear to be many VDSL router\modems around still.

Now you've unlocked it, you can see it is a router also wink

Is it really worth unlocking the OR modem ? I am a bit afraid to do it (Not too technical and am sure I would brick it or something).

I found it quite easy to do - I tried and failed with it disconnected from the master socket, but I succeeded with it connected to the master. It was quite easy, as long as you have the unlocked firmware saved on your PC.

Make sure you have the Huawei EchoLife HG612 and not the alternative ECI modem.

You obviously have to follow the instructions to the letter, but if you're not confident, why risk it?
