BT announced on 19-Dec-11 that it is to extend the reach of its super-fast broadband network in Milton Keynes.

They revealed that 20,000 more homes and businesses in Bradwell Abbey will be able to receive super-fast broadband by the end of 2012. Around 9,600 homes and businesses will be able to receive service over FTTP and 10,700 will be served by BT�s fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) super-fast fibre-based broadband.

Around 11,000 homes and businesses are already within reach of the FTTP technology and today�s announcement means that about 95 per cent of premises served by the Bradwell Abbey exchange will have access to faster broadband through a mix of FTTP and FTTC technologies.

My trial has just finished in Broughton, however now BT want £50 p.m inc line rental for the product over 18 months...steep imo..

Yep £49.60 all in, or get £4.35 off the line rental by paying 12 months up front..

We definitely have FTTP - watched the bloke dig up the front garden to install it before the trial started - but we didn't go on the trial as we didn't want to be tied to BT and our speed with O2 is ok (about 3mb.. but honestly its fine)

The only site that says we have FTT anything is BT - they say we can have up to 100mb but if I choose the up to 38mb infinity I get told we can only get 2.5mbps

We are currently with 02 so don't have a BT line is that why other providers who supposedly do Fibre say we can't have it ? or is it that we can either have FTTP (and only from BT) or we have to stick with landline broadband?

It would be nice to have a faster service, but not prepared to pay an extra £20 a month for it - just want to know what the options are... will we be able to get fibre based broadband from anyone other than BT and on anything other than the £46/month package?

That will be because your area is FTTP so when you try for the 38Mbps, which is FTTC, it's getting in a mess and just giving you ADSL2+ estimates, instead of telling you it isn't available.

You can't choose between FTTC and FTTP. It's a different technology. Though some time next year it will become possible for people who can only have FTTC until then to get FTTP instead, expected to be several hundred £ to connect, but standard FTTP ongoing prices.

There are others currently supplying FTTP. I think ADSL24 for example. BT Infinity prices are massively undercutting everyone else though. Buying the user base.

I'm probably the only person on the planet who isn't happy to have FTTP - I want FTTC, its plenty good enough for us and there at least seems to be some competition between suppliers keeping prices keen and it would appear is going to be the main 'technology' for the majority of the UK and therefore the majority of the ISPs for many years to come. Whilst I am certain that the FTTP service is a ferrari compared to the copper pushbike I only want a family car.

Bl&*dy typical, this early adoption isn't all its cracked up to be imo - just like hen MK got analogue cable, so now we can't get digital cable.
