Update 1:30pm: We asked Openreach about the issue of Exchange Only lines back in April 2012, and received a response regarding those lines or groups of lines run directly from the exchange, which is usually those closest to the exchange or new estates located further from the exchange. Openreach has said that where technically and economically feasible they will provide either a FTTC (via new cabinet) or FTTP service, this is done on a case-by-case basis as the roll-outs progress. We believe pressure to hit the 66% figure as soon as possible, means these areas will mainly be waiting until 2014, or for the various BDUK projects to start producing results.

From what burakkucrat has posted, you should already be able to get it, with something like the speed you have found elsewhere. You can get an estimate using your phone number here. That might be more accurate than the other one.

It's called Fibre To The Cabinet, right? That means it depends on your distance from your green cabinet, instead of from the exchange. YOu are connected to cabinet 45 so maybe go and find it?

There will be a new fibre cabinet within 50 metres/yards of it.

when there are 2 cabinets ( 1 fttc , there other not) showing for your postcode ( OL12 8UY ) how can you tell which one you are connected to ??

You can't, only Openreach know the answer unless you ask a BT engineer yourself...

You should always perform an FTTC check on the phone number rather than address/postcode as this will be accurate.

How do you check which postcodes are served by which cabinet ?

I am also on the Epsom exchange, KT19 8FQ (new postcode for new development - living there <1 year) and am told I'm on cabinet 45.

Still no idea when / if this cabinet is being upgraded. Adsl checker for my telephone number says I can't get it but I would love to know if I can hope for fibre in the future.
