I should say just to be slightly optomistic, they have actually started work, as I've seen them in three places putting in what i believe to be fibre containment (A49 south of the bridge, Ayelstone hill, and somewhere out on the king acre road). I'm not in hereford much, so I;m not omnipresent.

i had a visit today from someone from all pay broadband, had a good chat with her and while they don't offer speed at 35megabits for home users at the moment and are not as cheap as Bt, Talk Talk and sky, I think from where i am i be better off with them.

% megabits for around £18, which is faster than what I get now and cheaper, or 10 megabits for £29 and I can get rid of my phone line as well.

the only thing that is holding me back at the moment is the 24 month contract.

i don't need 40megabits, as long as i can watch netfliks, which I do now on my 3.4 megabits connection and browse the net then I am happy.

The £100 install fee is a bit steep mind you.

i will have a think over the next few days, but to be honest the further away from Bt i can get the better

I think you may have misinterpreted that web page, the second and third photos are of the inside of an FTTC cab, the reference to copper out is for the individual links to the adjacent phone cab. FTTC cabs are not always located alongside their twins and can be up to 100m away, for example on the other side of a road or around a corner.

The link below shows of all the street furniture, their are many versions of BT pcp's of which the older styles get replaced to the newer version as they are too small.

To have a FTTC service, one of the 3 FTTC cabs below have to be installed next to a existing pcp.

i tell you know there is certainly none around here, the two places i looked at had plenty of room for a Fibre cabinet and there is none.

i thought the Fibre cabs had to have ventilation?

Having Huawei involved with this fibre thing puts me off big time to be honest, certainly when it is in my home.

Decided to go with all pay and have wireless broadband now, put it all in motion, hopefully get it done before next month, then goodbye copper wires.

What kind of upload speeds will you be getting with Allpay? The main reason i want to get fibre optic is for the high upload speeds so i can stream games, which requires 2mb for high quality on its own. Anything above 5 would be fine i'd imagine.

It won't be 2Megabits, I think it is about a megabit, not too bothered, if I want to upload something I can do it at night or while I am at work.
