It's Hunderton Road. I've made the college road one yellow, to show theres a cabinet there, but not yet FTTC

i realised that after i posted the last message, I tend not to use Google Maps that often and stay on it for as little time as i can.

so is that the only cab that been started in the city at the moment?

i don't think the one on college road will be done for ages. Bt better hope it pays off, I presume a lot of people around here will go for it, but it depends if they want to pay the extra.

Myself, i made my bed now and i have to lie in it for 2 years, but i am not bothered, i will have a slower speed but will be far away from BT.

i can't wait for Talk Talk to come around again like they do and they will come around again once we get fibre. i will show them my little module on the roof and tell them that is how I get my broadband and no phone line needed or required to do it.

It's the only one anyone has spotted so far. Based on streetworks belmont road by the oval and the A49 end of walnut tree avenue are likey to be next. I expect it will ramp up when more teams are available from the Q2 deployments. Don't get too excited, they have to blow in fibres yet etc.

I saw them at the top of Vineyard Road/Old Eign Hill this morning running more cables, and the streetworks said that they would be doing the cab this week. How long roughly do you think it might be from the cabs going up to the lines becoming active?

Round my way it's not less than 2 months and there's one that was put in in the middle of Jan and it only went live last week. It's difficult set a timescale because of the all the other work involved such as getting power connected to it which seems to be one of the biggest causes of delays.

Six to eight weeks before anything goes live. The old cabs stay, they keep the connections to houses. The new fibre cabs are conne Ted to them with tie pairs under ground

Nothing as it is fibre to the cabinet, so the fibre goes to the cabinet and then the signal comes to your house via the copper wire. just think of the new cabinets being like a small exchange but without the voice stuff.
Old cabinets are also still required for voice use
