Here is a link that points to the latest Streetworks document that shows any cabinet or ducting work over the next week or two.

http://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/transport/road_path_...

It generally gets updated once a week on Mondays

Returning to Hereford, drawing a circle with radius 3,000 metres around the exchange encompasses almost the entire city. [4] However, the city is cut in half by a large river (Wye) which perhaps poses problems with E-side routing, extending the average loop length, maybe?

Some E-side is routed via the MDF sited by the Cathederal..

There is some aluminium and overhead cabling in D-sides on the extremities of the circle.

Aha! Thanks Lorian. So maybe the laws of average are in force? The extremist minority on the city outskirts with the aluminium are dragging down Hereford's broadband reputation?! No matter, all to be solved soon enough with FTTC. Well deserved merriment for the Openreach engineers once they've finally fibred the city! Complimentary Weston's Cask-Matured Vintage Cider (Alc 8.2% vol.) for every engineer, surely?! Should sort the men from the boys!

cheers, a

There is now one less. I'd mostly only been posting anonymously as my account here is quite aged, but having managed to recover the password recently I'll see how long the cookie remain cached or I remember the password wink

I hadn't noticed any advertising, but it's probably being filtered out.

You should have a look at last past Allows you to store your passwords online, normally I would not trust these type of services, but lastpast is really good and as secure as you are going to get as it is all encrypted.

You can use it with Crhome, IE, and Firefox and i think with opera and safari as well, even works in Linux.

Relying on cookies is not a good idea anyway and I normally delete all cookies after a session anyway.

The cable to my house at the college estate goes back from telephone exchange to the old exchange and then back up to me, which is why the speed we get around here is not that great via ADSL, It was worse once BT updated the exchange to ADSL2+.

At least with FTTC people will have a choice, they can keep with the speed they got or go for a faster speed, well i suppose some will, I expect some places will not have FTTC.

i must admit chatting to friends and mates, most of them that only got about 5 megabits with ADSl don't seem that interested in FTTC. even when I telll them they can get around 40 megabits or more, they seems to think they don't need it.

Sure there are some who are waiting and think it will be good, because they got a family and everyone uses the net at the same time.

one of my brothers I think will get it, he gets a good speed now since he moved, it is only him and his wife, but they do use the net a lot, ok he uses the net a lot smile

if it was not BT equipment i may have waited before going for wireless, but I think with me the chance of getting rid of the line rental was the bit that did it.

Thanks for the heads up

I've PM'd Brett to see if he can revert the changes as he's the map creator I beleive.

Looks like a petty minded act of willfull vandalism.

Vandalism it would seem. I've PM'd Brett to see if he has access to revert the changes.
