some one tel me why ist evey cab going to be upgraded then ?

in my opinion there are several reasons:

3 were not in place when BT originaly planned the roll-out, no doubt will be subsequently mopped-up

6 are in Town and mostly connect to commercial premesis.

9 or 10 primarily serve industrial estates.

6 or more fall into the not-so-obvious catagory

Each cab is reported to cost several 10's thousands of pounds to install. Openreach need to be sure enough people will buy the fibre server to make sure they make their money back and hopefully make a (small!) profit.

For the PCP's that connect shops and commercial buildings there is a two-edge sword making them not so ripe for fibre installation. On the one hand not so many private premesis to buy fibre services, and on the other hand they server business who may ceases expensive (read profitable) leased line contracts to take more cost effective fibre. Very annoying if your house is served by one of these.

In the not-so-obvious catalgory It's well, not-so-obvious! Perhaps they are omitted due to the predominant economic profile of attached premesis meaning they are less likely to take-up fibre serverices, poriximity to the exchange, pohibitive costs to run new ducts or fibre in particular places.

More likely theres just not enough customers connected to some cabs, i know of one cab in hr that only has 20 houses connected to it!
If i were a planner i'd make these under utilised cabs into scp's off bigger cabs nearby. I doubt this will ever happen, either bt planners are not smart enough or more likely these systems and processes theyworkto are just not flexible enough.

Is the one with 20 houses on the "to do" list? I'd assumed PCP31 was the lowest d-side count and that looks to be maybe 40/50+ houses. Which is it?

I thnk the physicaly smallest PCP is on one of the trading estates (Faraday rd I think) and that's just a post.

I'm not in Hereford but my cabinet has had a sticker in it for well over a month now yet it is still not live and according to a contact I have within the FTTx programme office it is not due to go live until sometime this month.

The Openreach posters are put up by openreach staff in their spare time, their not a sign of a cabinet being live, the only way to know if a cabinet is live is to check a BT number on the BT wholesale asdl checker.

Indeed, fingers crossed for him.

Lots of cabswith yellow markers with black dots now.

Also, they mention one cab we don't have, maybe it's missplaced, should be one near the cock of tupsley - (441 ledbury road)
