Re: FTTC in Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs

If they don't get to NDTHA31 soon, it will be completely overgrown with Virginia Creeper. Even then I am not sure I am near enough to it. Carry on waiting patiently and thanks to all for keeping this information updated, especially Ronski.

Best regards

That's my cabinet too and I'm concerned about the state of it. It's now almost invisible. Presumably when they do turn it on they will clear the foliage. If not, I might do it myself!

Anyway, no changes to Margate/Thanet cabinets again. It looks like the last few remaining ones are going to take some time.

Looking forward to a speed increase!

I'm on CAB25... no FTCC shell yet... however noticed this on roadworks.org:

Low impact, delays unlikely
Location: in f/w o/s 69 MANSTON ROAD
Description: Locate and excavate 1 blockage in existing duct
Current status: Planned work about to start
Permit status : Granted
Traffic lights, etc: None/signing only
Queries should be addressed to BT quoting reference BC005WP00100500085726401
Work info last modified 14:17 on 14/08/2012
Last updated on roadworks.org 12:17 on 16/08/2012
Data source Kent County Council

Could that be to clear the duct ready to lay fibre in and then put a shell up? Think I'm hoping for too much... could be for CAB 8 but that's further down...

Might see If I can ask the guys doing the work... though they never know anything!

If I remember correctly Cab 25 is on the new Meridian Village, and wasn't scheduled in the December 2011 list, however it might have been added to a more recent list.

Must agree the works do appear to be in the wrong place to be related to PCP 8, although there are a multitude of other things it could be for.

That's correct and yup isn't in the December spreadsheet. There hasn't been a new spreadsheet leaked yet has there?

Such a shame Manston isn't covered in the roll out of Thanet, as the exchange is in Minster it's unlikely to be done in the next few years. frown

Just checked a mates address, he's going from about 2mbit to 50mbit! Lucky for some! Looks like I'll have to make do with the VFast connection for a while longer - just hope they up the speeds a bit soon.

My mates been on Vfast for a few years, and he lives near Westwood Cross (Manston Court Rd) and couldn't even get broadband as he's also on the Minster exchange.

Hi Slimj

I'd hate to think that you "have to make do with Vfast..."

The topic of next-gen speeds has be discussed a lot recently and we are working on packages that will compare well with FTTC yet are available in non-FTTC areas as well as FTTC areas, giving people the choice to ditch BT.

We've got a lot of upgrades to do and Staner Flats (Manston) is very high on the list. Once complete we'll have a licensed microwave radio link capable of several hundred Mbps (upgradable to Gbit) to supply Manston and the Thanet area.

We will then be able to increase speeds and packages similar to that offered by FTTC.

Last night I emailed Open Reach about various cabinets and they replied with the following:

NDRAM 1 - There is a delay delivering this cab due to blockages in the underground ductwork.
NDRAM 21 - This is scheduled for Phase 9a delivery, Dec 12
NDRAM 38 - This has currently been deferred out of the program for technical reasons
NDTHA 8 - - This is in Delay, multiple delays inc, blockages. No date for deployment
NDTHA 17 - As Above
NDBRO 5 - This is scheduled for Phase 10a delivery, Mar 13
NDBRO 21 - This cab is not in the roll-out for Fibre Broadband
NDBRO 28 - This is scheduled for Phase 10a delivery, Mar 13
NDRAM 25 - This cab is not in the roll-out for Fibre Broadband
NDRAM 42 - This cab is not in the roll-out for Fibre Broadband

Following the local roadworks list is not the best way of finding out about our deployment. We may have multiple roadworks and still be unable to deploy

From next month our website will show deployment at cabinet level. Please monitor progress from there.

I'll update the map tonight to reflect this new information.
