I wouldn't worry about it not showing on the checker, I've been monitoring 3 local exchanges and none of them showed on the checker until they went live. Cabinets have been going in since February.

Where as my cabinet at work on a different exchange has shown an estimated speed for ages, but still no cabinet.

Another update...

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

All the roadworks seem to have been completed!

But I type my phone number into the checker, I get nothing about fibre. Then I type in my postcode and i'm given these details.

Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 30th September 2012. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed between 46.3 to 49.9 Mbps and upstream line speed between 8 to 10.9 Mbps.

I tried being more specific with my post code and house number but then nothing about fibre pops up.

What seems to be up here haha

Are you able to try using the number checker with a close neighbours number ?

Some weirdness happens with these checkers. Been installing at a house, and the next door neighbour comes out and says that for their line, 'computer says no'.

ADSL24 a poster on these boards might take a look, they have access to systems not open to the general public.

Received an email from Openreach

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Emailed openreach, got a reply smile

In reference to :
Dear Mr Newbery

Thank you for contacting Openreach about fibre broadband.
Your number is connected to Accrington cab LC/ACC 53.
The build for this cab is complete and is being commissioned. Its expected date to go live is the end of September.
However, you may find that it is ready to accept orders in the next week or so.
The expected down load will be around 40Mb with an upload speed of 8Mb, this will be of sufficient bandwidth for your needs.
To ensure you get the best speed, ensure that the modem and home hub, when installed are at the main telephony socket.

Anyone want to break this down for me? Commisioned? Does that mean the wiring is all in place and is just waiting for someone to flick the switch?

Thanks smile

It means they are carrying out final checks, then they will flick the switch so to speak. Basically it's expected to go live very soon smile

This is brilliant! Now it means I can use my home connection for a 24 hour charity gaming livestream we're doing for the Lymphoma Association rather than having to rent a wee tower for temporary wireless broadband!

Cannot wait to get an order in smile

My exchange is accepting orders with only one cabinet active - mine. I'm not even sure there are 10 cabinets on the exchange, or at least 10 that they plan to fibre up...
