The best way maybe to find out if you can get fibre is to go hereto BT website and click check your speed, it will come up if you got FTTC and if not when are you going to get it.

Or you can use the real checker which is ISP independent and the date is always an ESTIMATE as you well know. It quite often changes a LOT.

When it works, we tried BT wholesale checker for here and it did not say anything about FTTC and yet it is available here.

You are deinfielty on the cab iin standbrook rd, checker is perhaps being a bit pessemistic, but it depends what route the cables take from you to the cab.

Thanks, appreciate the help.

Well I expect he went to the exchange to disconnect there before switching to the MSAN in the cabinet. didn't take him long. I'm connected to port 1 on my cab.

The guy was fron London, been in stayiing in Malvern covering fibre installs all week, and I was his last job before going home.

He fitted the latest style master socket.

BT modem in the cupboard, and my router is in, service is about 6 times faster than with ADSL (I'm a huge distance from the exchange a fair distance from the cab).

A nice side effect is my lazy 32ms first hop ping is now down to about 13ms.

I'm a bit worried about my install, the nearest plug socket is about 5 metres across the room from my master socket, is it easy to just move the socket during the install?
