Another possible solution is to run the Cat5 Cable from the openreach modem to the new modem you will get from sky or other ISP.

That way there will be no more loss of signal from possible defective extension wiring.

But I don't know the set up yet as I don't have it yet to answer fully.

Will the BTO modem run off an extension or does it have to be connected to master socket? - once the install is finished I'll have to move the modem upstairs, it cant stay by master socket.

Also .... Is it true the BTO modem connects to the faceplate via ethernet cable? - if this is correct I'll just run a length down to the master socket.

It uses an RJ11 to RJ11 cable - I've not looked to see if an RJ45 will fit. But its basically the same cable you get with ADSL routers.

It HAS to be on the master socket. Your installing engineer can move the master socket to where you'd like it.

The Sky router can go anywhere as long as you link the Sky router to the BTO modem by Cat 5 ethernet .

Is there any reason folks in Hereford are going for BT over Sky?

I've just double checked and speed is the same, Sky has no FUS, and its £6 cheaper a month.

What makes Infinity the better option, the better free wifi hotspots?

Pretty sure 40/10 from sky is cheaper but not their 80/20, isnt that £30 a month?

Works for P30 have been scheduled twice but to my knowledge nothing has happened either time.

It could be complicated because it feeds a secondary SCP cabinet that is located by a car park near what was Haywood School. perhaps there is no room for the tie cables - this is just speculation.

To find out for sure you could email [email protected] and ask.

Indeed, Not ethernet and an RJ45 wont fit.

But there are two ways to get the signal from the new master socket to the modem. Note the data provision is actually on the socket not the faceplate on these new master sockets.

The choices are RJ11 to RJ11 cable OR

You can go from two IDC (Krone) connectors hiding under the faceplate into cable (I'm using Cat5e) out through a slot under the master then run in to an RJ11 plug for the modem. This is a bit neater than RJ11 to RJ11 and using CAT5 cable is better than flat CAT3.

80/20 is fibre unlimited pro, as opposed to fibre unlimited, when I enter my number in their checker it doesn't say I can get unlimited pro, unlimited pro is pricey from Sky, £30 for 6 months then £46 !!! after that.

I presumed nobody in Hereford was able to get Pro, perhaps I am mistaken?

Their standard fibre unlimited is cheap just £20 a month full stop.

BT Infinity is £26 per month up to 78MB, but all my line checkers show max 38mb anyway via their system .

I may be wrong, but is it even possible for people in Hereford to get Sky's Pro package, are people getting 80 mb with SKY in hereford?
