Yes it is. You stated it as a fact but when pushed for corroboration, you admitted you had made it up.

Pretty much what I would have expected. THe cabinet build is done in the factory and staged so when it arrives on site once it is connected it is ready to go once cables and power are connected and possibly the batteries are fitted. I guess they use sealed lead acid so probably could ship with the batteries fitted.

The gain is lower cost and a faster revenue stream. Why would BT want to have several thousand pounds worth of kit that they have been infvoiced for just sitting around doing nothing and earning them no revenue when if they had scheduled the power install they could have a revenue stream 6 weeks earlier and less strain on the cash flow?

The problem is that 6 weeks is a figment of your imagination.

I would suggest that they get a quote first as this may mean the cabinet gets kicked out if the quote is too high.

The timescale is "Average time from payment of 6 weeks". Suggests that BT do not pay until the Cab in on site as this is the final planned go/no go for the cab.

Up to that point the money is not committed.

Power issues after this will be when the power company comes back and says "sorry we got it wrong" we cannot do what we thought. Then the arguement goes on about the difference in cost for the new solution. Either BT pays or the Cab egts ripped up and moved (I am sure someone on here noticed [complained about] one gone from the original site).

It is clear that some planned cab have been kicked out of the program when the power costs were quoted. (see pins in the Openreach map).

This is sensible economic planning but takes longer, as expected on a very low return product, (quoted as 10 plus years in BT accounts).

At an average price of £1900 BT would need to cut off the top end to make any area cost in. ( Min £1100 just for supply)

Remember Openreach price is less than £9 per month per connection. so average power cost is 221 months payment (or 17 connections for a year) just for power connectivity!!

Just hit me how cheap SSFB really is in the retail market! compared to cost at those returns surprises me Openreach can afford to do anything!

Normally the bliling event is triggered by the delivery to sitepayments. THere is nothing to stop BT getting a quote at any time. Probably though any quotes would only be valid for about 3 months and if over that would need revalidating. A quote is a quote and the utility companies are legally bound to it unless they can claim unforseen condtions or BT changes it's requirements. In reality most power connections to cabinets will be very straightforward. BT does of course need to let the Utility company know exacly where the cabinet is to be installed as this will impact costs

This invalidates your first claim that "THere is nothing to stop BT getting a quote at any time"

No it does not. You can get a quote at any time but quotes normally have a limited validity date although it is normally a simple task to get a quote revalidated

It would be sensible for BT to get a quote or even an estimate as early as possible as if the quote comes in to high they can pull that cabinet from theb build before they have incurred any signfican costs
