Thanks! I thought I may be on cab 17... they installed a brand new cab 17 last Friday, but hrm.... it doesn't look like a fibre cabinet, or does it?

That's just a new cabinet shell, sometimes they do this prior to installing the FTTC cab, sometimes it's for other reasons.

As R0NSKI says.

The usual reason for a reshell like that, (assuming FTTC is on its way), is that there isn't room in the old one for the patch panel and cabling to connect to the fibre cabinet.

Interesting that the greenery around the jointbox seems to have been trimmed too. Was some work done on that at the same time?

I went to look what you meant, and noticed there seems to be a newly dug and re-covered trench bottom left, to the first flagstone.

I wonder where that starts.

My exchange (Bannockburn) was fibre enabled a few weeks ago, and the old cab 17 http://goo.gl/maps/Q1EaJ was smaller than this new one, so yeah.... makes perfect sense that they would re-shell cab 17 to give them a bit more space inside for the stuff they need to connect to a fibre cabinet, once they install one. BT are meant to be returning to do some more work between the 10th and 15th of Oct - so hopefully it will be to install a fibre cabinet. I live in the next street... so I'm just hoping this really is the cab I'm on.

I don't think there's a trench been dug there, and covered up again Roberto, I think that's just a mark on the grass where their equipment has been laying or something... could even be a mark where they sat the new cab shell, before they installed it.

The council are pretty active around this area when it comes to cutting grass and triming greenery etc. - so all that was likely down to them.

Cabinet 9, and if all went according to the December 2011 schedules FTTC should have been live long ago. But things have gone wrong in many other areas, so I don't know.

That is a check on the live data for the postcode. Looks like something has caused a delay, or even a cancellation. There is an Openreach email address that I haven't got available but many here have, to ask them what the problem is and when it might be fixed.

The downstream speed estimate looks like 40-50Mbps to me, when it is available. (3.01 times the ADSL2+ speed, and those estimates above are usually conservative).

Any chance someone can help me out with the latest info for B5 5JN ?

Considering my exchange (CMCEN) has finally gone to Accepting Orders after so many reschedules from Openreach it was getting a bit silly, yet I can't actually order FTTC from anyone and the BT Wholesale checker doesn't mention anything about FTTC, it'd be nice to know how much longer I'm going to have to wait.
