Re: Aberdeen Kincorth exchange

In Cove it was 3 - 4 weeks from the cabinet being installed to go-live, although I know of someone in a different part of Cove who hasn't been able to order fibre yet and I thought all the cabinets would have gone in around the same time.

Possibly depends on what other issues they come across at the time - there was one cabinet that seemed to take longer to get power hooked up than the one nearest me. Rough guide would appear to be around a month and the way new cabinets appeared around here, looks like they'll be going through the city systematically.

Engineer been and gone - it's rather good having decent speeds at long last.

Estimate at 52.5Mbps down / 13.2Mbps up - BT speedtest showing 72Mbps down / 15Mbps up and a download from Logitech at 8.2MB/s.

The Sky ADSL router with it's 1.5Mbps isn't going to get a lot of use now. Might go and see how much it will cost to buy out of the Sky contract early.

Sky haven't yet enabled fibre on their equipment at the exchange - the plan was to go with Sky, but from things I've read you could be waiting months for them to do whatever they need to do to enable their kit after an exchange has gone live with FTTC. On the flip side, I did also read that sometimes people have been able to order same day as an exchange starts accepting orders, so seems like luck of the draw.

Just off the phone to BT took 80 minutes to get through, anyway placed my order on the 28th of October, was supposed to get connected on the 15th November then it was the 27th changed to the 30th now its the 7th December. Was told that I would have to get a new MAC key called BT and they told me there was nothing wrong with it but had to renew the order? Has anyone else had the same problem or am I the unlucky one.

That's really rubbish - are they giving you any decent explanation of what's going on?
Who are the existing ISP you're migrating from - as if you need to get a new MAC then probably need to do that sooner rather than later so it doesn't delay things any further with BT.

Well thats another appointment cancelled, supposed to get Infinity yesterday but the engineer never turned up or a message to say that know one was coming, thats four cancellations, so called BT and told they are sorry and an engineer will be on the 7th, so will have to wait and see but not holding my breath. You guys that have Infimity in Cove what speeds are you getting?

Initially I was getting 71Mbps down / 15Mbps up - over a week later it seems to have settled at around 65Mbps down / 15Mbps up, according to speedtest results.

IP profile when I checked the other day was showing over 70Mbps.

Estimate was 52Mbps / 13.2Mbps.

ETA - reckon I'm about 500m from cabinet, assuming the cables go through the estate and not out and down Charleston Road.
