The Huawei HG533 is only 10/100, not gigabit like the rest of my network. Will that matter though as there is always going to be a bottleneck at the telephone line side of things eh?
Gigabit LAN networks are (at the moment) only of use for shuffling large amounts of stuff around the network faster.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.7/14.9Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

It certainly makes shifting 10GB of Blu Ray backup to my server a lot quicker smile wouldn't be without my Gigabit network.

If you do need Gigabit (as Roberto says only useful for the LAN as yet), one cheap way to get it is with a gigabit switch. I use provided HG612 and HH3. The HH3 is connected to a gigabit switch which is in turn connected to my desktop. When I want fast connection laptop/desktop, I bring the laptop near the desktop and connect it to the switch as well. The switch is also connected via a long ethernet to another (slow) switch which provides wired access to the rooms on the second floor.

Not suggesting this for everyone: my reason is partly house layout and partly what I happened to have around, but it has been a very cheap any effective solution to my needs.

The openreach modem is used in conjunction with the HG533 which is running as just an Ethernet router

thats also my setup at the moment as well.

I have the hh3 connected to my gigabit router, the gigabit router has dhcp disabled and isnt a gateway. Currently my VM router is also connected to the gigabit router as well so right now I can use both connections without swapping any cables but VM will be cancelled by the end of the year. I plan to swap the hh3 with another router depending on if it has the features I want or not (not checked the gui yet). But I am ok with it been 100mbit as I have a gigabit router next to it for lan traffic. I need to use 2 routers anyway I realised now because I have more than 4 wired devices on my network, assuming I keep samknows test running on my new isp.

I would - just drop them an email when you plug the box into the new ISP and they'll update your profile.

I would be interested in seeing the differences on SamKnows reports between VM and BT Infinity when you've had Infinity a month or so smile

I have the v1 of the DGND3700 which doesn't have a dedicated WAN Ethernet port. Do you think it will still work? I've heard rumours of a firmware update that will allow one of the LAN ports to be used instead, but I don't know if this ever came to be.

EDIT
I stand corrected! Just looked at the back and it does indeed have a WAN port smile

Just found this:

So it looks like I can indeed keep my router and ditch the Huawei smile
