I realise why they have done it, I think Chrysalis sums it up perfectly.

At least Exeter has access to Virgin Media! Think about us poor folk over in Exmouth with no Virgin or FTTC (yet)

Not all of Exeter! Virgin Media stops at the end of my close. FTTC stops half way up the hill to my house. My scheduled FTTP on hold until Spring at the earliest. Just 5km of copper wire keeping me in touch with the 21st Century frown

I'm in exactly the same boat which is why I'm so keen to get FTTP sorted.

Haha! That's patchy at best.

I am on one of the farthest reaches of the exchange at the end of a long line, and despite being on an estate rife with Virgin Media Fibre, my close doesn't have it at all.

Virgin won't entertain the idea of extending their footprint by oh, 20 foot? So I'm stuck with a couple meg ADSL 2+ when my neighbours not only have FTTC but also 100+ meg fibre from Virgin available.

10 yards away.
