Re: Reduced FTTC Profile

Mine looks like this.

There are additional wires for internal phone connections and the data extension kit. Are you saying that the FTTC modem can be safely installed into what looks to me like a phone socket? What about the phones if I do this?

Not sure why I need to do this as the OR modem at the end of the data extension kit is the OR/customer demarcation line? As it is still less than a year, any faults on the data extension line are an OR responsibility.

He means remove the interstitial plate that your data extension kit is connected to, so be careful.

That will reveal the original test socket. The socket, as you say, is for a phone, and although I believe the modem cable will fit it and connect, for a secure connection I would use a dangly filter purely to provide the appropriate socket.

That socket is still the demarcation NTE5 referred to in your quote. The one at the far end, that you are using, is an extension. It's to be hoped it isn't a second fully-functional NTE5.

The aim is to eliminate the possibility of a faulty DEK installation.

Thank you for the clarification. That said, my point still stands does it not that for 20/21CN ADSL the test socket is the demarcation point whereas for VDSL it is the OR modem connected either to the NTE5 or the OR-installed data extension cable? The guidelines seem, at least to me, to be very clear on this point.

Sorry, but nope!

If you re-read the second paragraph of this post, in particular the first sentence, that is quite clear where the demarcation point is.
